Halifax Hoedown – Let’s Dance for a Cause!

Dear Calderdale Community,

We are gearing up for the most spectacular event of the year – the Halifax Hoedown Fundraiser! This isn’t just any event; it’s a chance for our wonderful community to come together, celebrate, and make a monumental difference in the lives of children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

Why the Halifax Hoedown?

Here at EdShift, our mission is to support and empower children who have been exposed to domestic abuse and violence. We know how much these experiences can impact a young person’s life. But we also know the incredible power of community in helping them heal.

Our YouthBase in Central Halifax has been a beacon of hope for many, providing a safe, child-centred environment where they can start their journey toward recovery. However, with our National Lottery Funding coming to an end in May 2025, we are in the last chance saloon to ensure we can stick around and continue to offer our vital services.

Our Goal:

We need to raise £10,000 to secure an additional six months at YouthBase. This is where YOU come in! By participating in the Halifax Hoedown, you are not only contributing crucial funds but also taking a stand against domestic abuse—a stand that our young people will see and feel.

Event Highlights:

Date: Saturday, 19th April

Time: 12 PM – 12 AM

Venue: The New Roxy, Wharf St, Sowerby Bridge, HX6 2AE

Line Dancing Extravaganza: Picture this – 12 hours of non-stop line dancing to your favourite country classics!

Local Talent: Enjoy performances by our amazing local country and folk singers.

Family Fun: We’ll have games and activities for all ages, making it a day to remember for the whole family.

Tickets: £20 per person or family tickets for 4 at £50.

Join Us:

Imagine, Halifax, the joy and empowerment it will bring our young people when they see the entire community coming together to support them. As a society, we often shy away from discussing domestic abuse and its impacts. But by dancing the night away, we are making a powerful statement—one that says we will not be silent, we will act. There’s a universal silencing around domestic abuse and as a society, we still don’t want to talk about it and its impacts.

Through our work, we know that children heal, and an integral part of their journey towards recovery is realising they are not alone in their experiences. Imagine how transformational and empowering it will be for our young people, seeing the whole community taking a stand against domestic abuse.

Even if you can’t join us in person, you can still make a difference! Donate now by clicking here, host your own hoedown party, and tune in online to create an even bigger chain of sponsorship and donations.

Halifax let’s take it to the floor now! Come and get in line for a real-life boogie and a real-life hoedown! Dance the night away to end domestic abuse and violence.

Let’s make this the biggest, most impactful hoedown in Halifax history!

With heartfelt gratitude and anticipation,

Ellie Brook CEO, EdShift

Together, we can create a brighter future for our children. Let’s dance away domestic abuse and bring hope and healing to our youth!
