Hi, I am Liz!
I worked as a nurse for over 35 years retiring in 2022. A significant portion of my career was spent working directly with young people in school/college and outreach settings.
My passion is always about coaching young people to be the best they can and develop independence through understanding their rights as well as the responsibilities that come with life. Much of my work with young people has been focused on relationships and sexual health, facilitating young people to explore emotions, consider healthy and unhealthy friendships and learn about safety in relationships. Throughout my career I have worked with a range of young peoples’ services/stakeholders/organisations to raise awareness, provide training and influence service development.
EdShift’s work is fundamental in terms of keeping young people safe and reframing the social norms of relationships. I am excited to play a role in this critical work. I will be working as administrator supporting the practitioners as well as creating a safe and welcoming environment for all visiting EdShift@TheYouthbase.
Retirement has created the opportunity to step back into frontline work and align with the values that drive me- empowering our children and young people as the next generation to enjoy healthy, safe and nourishing lives with the understanding of how to help others do this too.
I am calm, loyal and resilient. I try to use all life experiences and challenges as something to learn from and take forward into being a better person. I love preplanning and being organised, but she can be a bit too serious sometimes.
