My name is Stacey and I have been on the Board of Directors at EdShift since 2022 after being introduced to the organisation by my colleague and fellow Director, Nina Thomas.
My first passion was theatre and the transformative power of the arts. It is my belief that creativity is the greatest and most powerful form of expression. Having studied Drama and Theatre at university and worked on a range of Theatre in Education pieces, I have seen first-hand how therapeutic and redemptive the arts can be as a tool for expressing emotion and contributing to recovery from trauma.
Following university, I worked in the youth sector voluntarily and as a secondary Drama teacher and SENCO for 12 years. I then spent just over two years working for a children and young people’s mental health charity; supporting schools, parents and young people through training and workshops.
Currently, I work for a Local Authority supporting education settings in building children and young people’s resilience to radicalisation and extremism. Through my current role, I have developed a keen interest in the manosphere, toxic masculinity and the links between radicalisation and violence against women and girls.
My experience in safeguarding, coupled with my resolute belief that the arts can support recovery from trauma, mean that my own personal and professional values align with those of EdShift.
