As EdShift transitions from a Community Interest Company (CIC) to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), we are seeking a strategic, values-driven Chair of Trustees to lead our Board into this next vital chapter.

We’re not just filling a seat,  we’re looking for a bold, ethical leader. A true partner to our CEO. Someone who believes in early intervention, creative approaches to trauma recovery, and building a world where child victim-survivors of domestic abuse are seen, heard, and healed.

As Chair, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the board, supporting EdShift’s governance and vision.

  • Work closely with the CEO as a critical friend and co-pilot in strategic planning.

  • Ensure high standards of governance, safeguarding, and financial oversight.

  • Champion the voices of lived experience and uphold a culture of inclusion.

  • Guide the board to challenge constructively, think boldly, and act ethically.

  • Promote transparency and accountability to stakeholders and funders.

you Might be our ideal chair if you:

  • Bring a strong understanding of charity governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Have experience chairing meetings, driving clarity, and building consensus.
  • Can confidently support and challenge a CEO with care, trust, and integrity.
  • Are passionate about trauma-informed work, equity, and children’s rights.
  • Have the time, energy, and presence to be an active, responsive Chair.
    Bonus: Experience in the VCSE sector, mental health, safeguarding, or income generation is highly valued.

We Need a Chair Who Will:

  • Lead with vision, heart, and strategy

  • Strengthen board culture and accountability

  • Champion sustainability and systemic change

Embed a governance model that honours both compliance and compassion

Your Commitment:

  • Meetings: The board currently meets bi-monthly (6 times/year), with a minimum of 2 in-person meetings. Others may be virtual.
  • Induction & Support: All trustees receive a full induction, access to EdShift’s strategy and financials, and regular check-ins with the CEO.

Time Involvement: Approx. 1–2 days per month, with flexibility depending on projects or strategy reviews.
