I’ve always been passionate about self-expression through the Arts for all people, but particularly for young people as different forms of art, creativity, and play were a lifeline for me when I was young.
It’s been an honour to support this in others throughout my life and witness the impact that having a safe space for self-expression can have. I’ve seen first hand how the arts can allow us to process and express our emotions, regulate our nervous system and can plants the seed to create a different future
In 2018 I gained an MA in Applied Theatre. I specialised in facilitating theatre workshops in different areas of the Criminal justice and Mental Health settings. I led projects in male and female prisons, young offenders and mental health institutes. I also worked alongside Geese Theatre Company in the performance ‘Any Mother Would’. This was a verbatim performance reflecting the lived experience of mothers in prison.
I’ve also been an actor/facilitator in various tours with the NSPCC. I toured workshops and performances to raise awareness of online safety and grooming in mainstream and alternative schools.
Most recently I managed a Youth Project called Esteemed Creatives. Which was an school provision centering a self-directed approach to creativity, learning and self expression.
I’m beyond excited to work with Edshift as an Outreach Practitioner as this is the kind of work I’m passionate about and feel it is deeply needed in our society.
