I’m Erin, a spotlight practitioner working at Edshift.
I am excited to be supporting children and families in Calderdale who are being supported by the programme. My background is a combination of working as a community artist alongside supporting young people with complex needs to access education. These experiences have allowed me to see the value of creative engagement to break down barriers when supporting children. As a practitioner I strive to meet young people where they are at creating a safe space to build positive relationships using art as an alternative communication method.
As an artist myself, I have experienced the benefits of engaging creatively with different mediums to help me regulate my own emotions. Sensory materials are definitely my favourite. Anything messy, especially painting (mostly outside the lines!).
Outside of working at EdShift I love going out for coffee, collecting trinkets and playing netball. I also love reading and also treat buying books as a hobby!
