In 2027, EdShift Chair Kate Adamson will be taking on the London Marathon to raise £3,000 for EdShift – enough to fund an entire year of our ‘In Touch Youth Club’.
‘In Touch’ provides a safe, relaxed and welcoming space where children and young people can spend time with others, take part in creative activities and build trusted relationships.
For young people affected by domestic abuse, having somewhere they feel welcome, understood and able to be themselves can be an important part of recovery. ‘In Touch’ creates space for connection, creativity and fun, while helping young people build confidence, strengthen relationships and know that they are not alone.
Kate, who has served as an EdShift trustee since 2024 and is now Chair of the charity, will take on the 26.2-mile challenge to help keep that space running for another year.
Her fundraising target is £3,000, the cost of delivering ‘In Touch’ for a full year.
That means every donation will be helping to provide a whole year of sessions, activities, connection and trusted support for the children and young people who come through our doors.
Kate said:
“I wanted my London Marathon fundraising to have a really clear purpose. £3,000 isn’t just a fundraising target on a page, it means we can fund ‘In Touch’ for an entire year.
“I’ve seen first-hand through my involvement with EdShift how important it is for children to have somewhere they feel safe, welcome and understood. Knowing that every mile I run can help keep that space available for young people gives those 26.2 miles a much bigger purpose.”
We’ll be following Kate’s training and fundraising journey over the coming months as she gets ready to take on London.
Help us get Kate to the start line and ‘In Touch’ through another year.
